JoAnne Uthe-Gibson
Growing up on an 80-acre farm in southwest Wisconsin, JoAnne never even imagined attending college. Her life’s course was changed in 1969 by the state of Wisconsin with a tuition free semester scholarship. Five years later in 1973, she completed a B.A. degree with Honors and a Master of Arts degree in Education. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville made that possible.
She established the Melvin and Helen Uthe Memorial Scholarship in honor of her parents, who completed eighth grade, so that others may have an opportunity of receiving a higher education like she had.
