EMS FIRST Robotics Scholarship

According to the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) website, the mission of FIRST is “to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders…” The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science also values STEM leadership potential, and seeks to identify and reward it with this scholarship.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must have been an active member of a FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) team and/or a FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) team for a minimum of the last two years
2. Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation with contact information from the lead mentor of his or her team
3. Applicants must have graduated from high school and be in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better (or GED equivalent)
4. Applicants must provide, in 400 words or less, a synopsis of their involvement with their ,FIRST Robotics team and express their interest to participate as a mentor
5. Preference will be given to applicants who wish to participate in F.I.R.S.T. as mentors to F.I.R.S.T. team 171
