Roger Higgs Endowed Scholarship Fund in Agriculture

From 1966 until his retirement in 2003, Dr. Higgs taught in the School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. During this 37-year tenure, he taught approximately 12,000 students in fifteen different courses. He was director of the Soil and Crop Science major between 1968 and 2003 and director of the reclamation program from 1991 to 1999. He conducted cooperative agronomic research, for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, for 34 years at the Lancaster Research Station. The Roger Higgs Scholarship is intended to reward students who have participated for at least one semester with either the sails, crops, or weed science team and who are members of the Soil Conservation-Agronomy Club (SWCS/ASA).

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be continuing students
2. Applicants must be involved for at least one semester with the crops, soils, or weed science teams
3. Applicants must demonstrate good citizenship by being active in one or more campus and/or community activities
