Fred Oomens Endowed Scholarship in Agriculture

Dr. Fred Oomens taught Agricultural Industries and Agricultural Mechanization at UW-Platteville for 24 years. He received both his B.S. in Agricultural Education and Master of Science-Teaching in Agriculture degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His wife Kay received both her B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Education from UW-Platteville. Fred and Kay have three children who also hold degrees from UW-Platteville.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be enrolled in Agriculture
2. Applicants must be of sophomore, junior, or senior standing
3. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
4. Applicants must be active members of a co-curricular agriculture student organization
5. Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled in Agricultural Engineering Technology or Agricultural Education and who involved in an agriculture student organization
6. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need
