Ron and Lynn Deiter BILSA Leadership Scholarship

Ron Deiter grew up on a farm ten miles south of Platteville. He began his college education at UW-Platteville in 1967, graduating four years later with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics. During his undergraduate sophomore year, he served as president of the Wisconsin FFA Association. Deiter went on to complete M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Economics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and the University of Illinois-Urbana respectively. Thereafter, he spent his entire professional career teaching and advising students majoring in Agricultural Business at Iowa State University. His educational training at UW-Platteville and his leadership training in the FFA laid the foundation for his success later in life as a professor. Ron has an immense feeling of gratitude for this training that jump started his professional career. He and his wife, Lynn, have created this scholarship in thanks. His hope is that the scholarship will also assist future leaders in completing their education at UW-Platteville.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be a first-year or a continuing student
2. Applicants must major in Agri-business
3. Preference will be given to students that have held a leadership position in the FFA
