Elizabeth A. Duewer Endowed Scholarship in Biology

Dr. Elizabeth Duewer began teaching in the Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the fall of 1979. She was a lecturer from 1979-94, and was a senior lecturer starting in 1994. Elizabeth has been deeply involved in the Platteville community as well. She has served as 4-H leader for 25 years in Grant County, Wisconsin. She has also been the Grant County Coordinator for the Japanese LABO Exchange, and she and her husband have hosted four exchangees from Japan and one from Finland. In 1996, she and her husband were awarded one of the 4-H Meritorious Service Awards for Grant County. Dr. Duewer also has a great love for music. She has played viola with the University-Community Orchestra, has played in the Mallow Ringers hand bell choir at the United Methodist Church, sings in the senior choir, women’s chorus and teaches fifth and sixth grade Sunday School. Dr. Duewer created this scholarship in light of her professional accomplishments.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants my be of sophomore status or above
2. Applicants must be majoring or minoring in Biology
3. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
4. Applicants should be active in extra-curricular activities and/or have a job related to Biology
5. Preference will be given to applicants who major in Biology
