Douglas Jorgensen Math Education Scholarship

Douglas Joregensen, class of 1967, majored in physics and mathematics and continued his studies at Iowa State University earning a masters degree in physics. For 35 years, he taught physics, mathematics, and computer science at colleges in Iowa. In 2004, he retired after 30 years at Iowa Wesleyan College and returned to his hometown in northern Illinois. He enjoys hobbies of open-source computing, ham radio, gardening and being a general handyman.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be a continuing student
2. Applicants must major in Math Education
3. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in mathematics courses
4. Applicants must demonstrate financial need
5. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of becoming a good teacher
