Mervin H. and Ellen M. Shumate Scholarship

Mervin graduated from UW-Platteville, in 1955, after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. Ellen taught school in many areas of the United States because Mervin was employed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This scholarship was created in celebration of Mervin and Ellen Shumate’s commitment to higher education and the opportunity it affords to rural farm families.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be a first-year student
2. Applicants must be graduates of Riverdale, WI High School
3. Applicants must demonstrate financial need
