Roger Goke Memorial Scholarship

Roger Goke attended UW-Platteville, graduating with a major in Agriculture in 1963. He grew up on a farm near Platteville and became interested in land conservation when his older brother, Lester, came home from his UW-Platteville Agriculture classes with an enthusiasm for farm conservation. That interest led Roger to get his own degree and to a career in farming that incorporated running a successful business while being mindful of the environment. He worked with USDA offices to lay out contours, rotate crops, and incorporate minimum till practices. Through the Conservation Reserve Program, his family planted thousands of shrubs and trees and built a system for the collection and diversion of feedlot runoff to improve water quality. He would be proud to help students finance their education in this field.
