Thomas C. Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship
Tom Hendrickson joined the teaching staff at the Wisconsin State Teachers College at Platteville in 1949. In 1958, he established an art major at the college, which was the first of its kind in the Wisconsin State College system. That same year, he designed a school seal that merged the symbols of the teachers college and the mining school. Professor Hendrickson was very popular with his students, immersing them in all forms of art including Drawing and Painting, Advanced Design, Figure Drawing, and Ceramics and Sculpture, among others. Hendrickson retired as professor emeritus from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1989, after a distinguished 40-year career of teaching art to hundreds of students.
