Howard and Gertrude Olson Memorial Scholarship

Florence Wong created a scholarship for the Safety Management and Building Construction Safety Management programs in memory of James Wong and to honor Howard and Gertrude Olson . James Wong was a graduate of the Safety Program at UW-Platteville. James and Florence are considered apart of the Olson family as stated by Howard’s son (John Olson). The Olson family also assisted James during his time at UW-Platteville as an exchange student through the UW-Platteville program.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be majoring in Construction Management or Engineering Technology Management with an emphasis in Occupational Safety Management
2. Applicants must be of junior or senior standing
3. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

The Howard and Gertrude Olson Memorial scholarship will be renewable for one-year if recipient(s) continues to meet the above criteria.
