Marion (Linden) Van Natta Memorial Scholarship

Marion Elizabeth (Linden) Van Natta was a lifelong resident of Platteville, born on the family farm just outside of town in 1928. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1946 and from Platteville State Teachers College in 1949 with a degree in Elementary Education. Her first job was at the Brick School in Platteville where she taught third grade. She was teaching there in 1953 when it burned down and took pride in the fact that she and her colleagues got all of the children safely out of the building.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be majoring in Elementary Education
2. Applicants must be of junior or senior standing
3. Preference will be given to applicants in the following order: Platteville High School graduates; if none, graduates from a Grant County, WI, high school; if none, the scholarship is open to any students
