Mert W. Bennett Engineering Scholarship

Mort W. Bennett was encouraged to attend the Mining School by his English teacher. She was from Platteville and her last name was Goodell. Her brother was the postmaster and taught Economics at the Wisconsin Mining School. Later that year, Mert traveled to Dubuque with a friend and as they passed through Platteville he saw some young student engineers using a transit and thought it seemed like a very interesting vocation. Mert really enjoyed the first year of school and looked forward to graduation. Mert graduated in 1932 from the Wisconsin Mining School.
