Gordon H. Shepard and Reta Wales Shepard Endowed Scholarship

Gordon H. Shepard, Jr. was born on April 18, 1922, in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, where he attended grade school and high school. “Shep,” as he was known, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, then known as Platteville State Teachers College, in 1947 after serving three years during World War II in the United States Air Force. He married Reta Wales of Platteville at the First Methodist Church, on August 8, 1946. Reta Wales was born on Mare 1, 1925, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, moving soon thereafter to Platteville. She attended all of her schooling in Platteville and graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in Elementary Education in 1947.

The following criteria shall be used in the annual selection of the recipient(s):
1. Applicants must be of sophomore, junior, or senor standing
2. Applicants must be majoring in Education
3. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
5. Applicants must demonstrate financial need
6. Preference will be given to applicants who are non-traditional students

The Gordon H. Shepard and Reta Wales Shepard Endowed Scholarship is renewable so long as the GPA of 3.0 or higher is maintained.
